St. Petersburg is the cultural and sea capital of Russia located on the two Eurasian transport corridors, “North-South” and “Transsib”, pan-European transport corridor No. 9, and European route E-18 that links Scandinavia with Central Russia. The St. Petersburg Big Sea Port freight capacity is about 60 million tones per year, and the volume of the City's foreign trade turnover is USD 50 billion per year.

During 2010 you have an unique opportunity to visit the major sea ports in North West of Russia to assess their freight capacity and operation efficiency of handling freight traffic, to see modern  terminal complexes and industrial parks, to meet with top Customs Directorate officials to discuss the issues that concern you, obtain information about the specific issues of doing business and setting up operation on the Russian territory, and finally to get acquainted with the 2020 Development Programme for the Transport Resources of the Russian North-West at a roundtable discussion attended by the senior officials of the transport committee of St.Petersburg City government.

        Sea Ports of the North-West Russia Preliminary agenda of the program: 
Big Sea Port of Saint Petersburg – visits to the terminal complex and meetings in the State Administration of the Seaport;
•  Ust-Luga Sea Trading Port – tour of the Seaport water area accompanied by the Heads of the Seaport;
•  Vyborg and Vysotsk Sea Ports - tour of the Seaport water area, negotiations with Marine Administration of the Seaports;
• Participation in the conference "Prospects for the development of The Big Sea Port ";
• Meeting with the members of Russian Academy of Legal Science on issues of legal regulation in the field of marine and river activities;
• Other business-meetings and visits on requests of the participants of the program.
